Stained Glass Quilt

Another old WIP is finished and ready to be used and loved.

Stained Glass Quilt

The Stained Glass Quilt

This quilt started out a bit different. It is based on the Turning Twenty Stained Glass pattern, and was supposed to have a large piece of fabric in the center with these blocks around the edge. I picked out the large-scale Summer Totem from Loulouthi for the center and got started making the blocks. The blocks came together quickly (even fiddling with that pesky 1" sashing). And once they were done, the whole project sat... and sat and sat and sat. I was a bit worried about everything matching up... there isn't much wiggle room with that sashing, and accurately cutting a single large piece of fabric, on an 18" x 24" cutting mat, isn't all that easy. So I put the blocks aside.

When I picked up the project again this year, I gave some thought to the reasons I stalled out last time. And decided there was no reason I couldn't re-imagine the project. Even without the focal fabric the blocks made up a nice lap-size quilt. A quick turn on the longarm and this WIP was finally done!

It feels so good to have one more project completed!

This is so pretty... the white sashing really highlights the fun fabrics!
