Texans Quilt

When I decided to make my husband a quilt for Christmas, I didn't give much thought to how I'd get it made while keeping it a secret. And boy was that hard!

Our little family of three doesn't spend a whole lot of time apart... we carpool to school and work together, we run errands together on the weekends. And even though I have my own sewing room, between the French doors and hubby popping in to see what I'm working on, there isn't much privacy.

The pattern went together easy and fast! Cut and pieced (bigger than the original instructions) on an overnight sewing trip with some local friends. And I was able to squeeze in a simple meander quilting on a rare morning home alone. I was feeling a little smug... December 1st and I was "almost done". But oh yeah, I kind of forgot about needing a couple hours to handstitch down the binding. I ended up dragging that quilt with me everywhere... to a holiday party (quilty friends - they understand), to the salon, to the office for a little lunch-time stitching. I finally put in the last stitch just before Midnight the day before Christmas Eve.

And in the end, it was all worth it! Hubby LOVES it.

I love this! It is a great quilt for a Texans fan and a great story of how you were able to make it without your husband noticing it! Best wishes for a healthy, happy and creative 2015!
