School Days Notebook Covers

Sheesh... I didn't think I'd ever get back to blogging something other than my weekly wrap-up. Last month and half has been: travel... Easter... travel... sick... travel... mad dash to catch up... travel... mad dash to catch up some more. But life should be slowing down a bit here soon and my calendar is looking refreshingly empty!

And somehow, amid all of this craziness, I am ahead of schedule for end-of-year teacher gifts. You read that right... two weeks of school left, and I have finished every last gift! (insert Snoopy dance here). I went easy this time around... everyone is getting the same thing, with the same fabric, and there are no zippers!

Megan's primary Kindergarten teacher will be getting a quilt. She's a first year teacher, and even with 21 kids in her class, she still found time to give Megan a little extra time and attention, so I wanted to give her something a little special. Everyone else... PE, Art, Computer, Music, Principal, Librarian, After-School Teachers... will be getting notebook covers.

I just love how these turned out! And they came together so fast! I cut my fabrics by the width of fabric, sewed the three fabrics together, lightly quilted some batting scraps to it (much better than running out to JoAnns for yards of fusible fleece!!), trimmed them down to size, and finished up the interiors. A few hours of work and I had 12 of these done!

I'm already plotting what next year's fast and fun gift will be.

Project Details
Fabric (Main): School Days by American Jane for Moda
Fabric (Accent A): Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt for FreeSpirit

You did well!! The covers are lovely, and what a great feeling it must be to have these ready really, really on time. What kind of a quilt will you be making for Megan's primary teacher?

Nice. I have yet to make a notebook cover. Need to find some time to make one for myself.
