Scrappy Wonky Stars

I love scrappy quilts. And scrappy quilts made with fabrics from friends... even better!!

I was lucky enough to attend the first two years of Sewing Summit (missing this year since I'm out of vacation time... boooo!) and some of the best parts of Sewing Summit were all the "extras". Pouch swap, scrap swap, black and white 10" charm swap, fat quarter swap, rainbow charm swap - there's something for everyone. And thanks to two years of the rainbow charm swap I had a big, beautiful stack of colorful charms, just waiting to be turned into something special.

When I saw Claudia's wonky star quilt I knew exactly what I was going to make with those charms! I decided to cut all the 5" charms down to 4.5" before getting started... this fit better with the quilt size I was shooting for, and took care of any issues there might have been in size uniformity with lots and lots of hands doing the cutting.

I took all the pieces with me to The Stash Bash back in April, but ran out of time and never got started on it that weekend.  A few weeks later we had the HMQG retreat, and this time I was able to at least make the star points. The rest of the quilt came together quickly.

What a cheerful & happy quilt! Love wonky stars, am making a wonky stars quilt myself at the moment, but quite different from yours.
