Like usual, I came up with a hundred ideas for my bundle of 18 fat-eights, but I just couldn't commit to one... either the size of the cuts wasn't right, or the colors weren't right, or the pattern wasn't right. The one idea I kept coming back to was a lone star. During the Post Sewing Summit Swap Deb made the MOST AMAZING lone star mini-quilt for her partner. I've probably looked at the Flickr picture once a week since November, and every time I think "someday..." Well, what better time than a challenge to try out something new!
I used Janice's tutorial for a Scrappy Lone Star and it came together so easily! In fact, the star was easier than adding on the extra background fabric (since after chopping off some of the pieced star I was working with lots of angles that needed to be squared up).
I can't wait to hang this on the wall in my sewing room.
