HMQG Mini-Quilt Swap

The Houston Modern Quilt Guild held a mini-quilt swap last weekend. The only guideline was to use the HMQG logo colors as inspiration.

New Logos for the Houston Modern Quilt Guild

I went with a literal interpretation, both in color and quilt design.

Mini Made for HMQG Challenge

I started with Kelly's wonky foundation pieced alphabet... changing the h and q of her pattern into capital letters.

Tula Pink backs my HMQG mini

For the back I used a piece of Tula Pink's Parisville (the same backing I used on my first Scrap Vomit quilt). I grabbed it because the piece of fabric I had was the perfect size for the backing... but after looking closer I realized it has a lot of the same colors as the logo.

We ended up having 17 quilts up for swap! And before the swapping craziness started, each person stood and gave a little bit of information on their inspiration. It was lots of fun hearing all the stores! And I came home with a quilt made by Sally.

Quilt I received in the swap - Made by Sally

The cookies at the bottom... that's actually a picture frame stitched into the quilt. (okay... I'd be lying if I said I didn't secretly hope the picture meant the quilt came with some homemade cookies!!)

And Sally isn't Sally without some embroidery... how cute is this little sheep?!?

Cute. That is such a great idea. Hope you have a fun time at the meetup on Saturday. Wish I was there.
