Project Life Week 12

March 20 - March 26

New soccer gear = fun day in the yard

We've been adding LOTS more fruit to our diet.

It seems like my whole life is in this notebook... to do lists, notes, shopping lists... I love having everything in one place.

My poor package arrived a little beat up!

Recreating one of my favorite quilts for a good cause.

One of many WIPs (including 11 quilt tops that need to tbe quilted!) I'm coming up with a plan of attack to get these completed!

Megan's stamps from SoccerTots. The first week of class she wanted nothing to do with the stamps, now she's the first in line at the end of class each week!

Project Life Week 11

March 13 - March 19

Helping Daddy wash the car.

Last weekend I found 2 vintage spools. I've started adding the little bits of twill tape from Moda precuts to one of them.

Registration opened today for the 2012 Disney marathon... I haven't run since the 2007 Goofy Challenge. Wonder if I get myself ready for the January races?

My {sometimes} sweet kitty.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Mom found this "shawl" in Grandma Orr's things. (Please no hate... we didn't buy it, don't want to keep it, but don't know what to do with it!)

My new apple pincushion from the HMQG Birthday Exchange... thanks Beth!!

Patchwork Notecard - Tutorial

For my birthday today, a little gift for you... the requested tutorial for the patchwork notecards I made a couple of weeks ago.

Patchwork Notecards

*Selection of fabric strips from 1" to 2" (all my pieces are 2.5" from another project, I'll be cutting them down as I work through the project)
*Foundation fabric 6" x 8"
*Plain notecard (I bought a package on sale at the local arts & crafts store)
*Optional: glue stick

1. Place your first piece (right side up) covering a corner of the base fabric.

Layer 1st Piece

2. Place your second piece (right side down) over your first piece, matching raw edges. Stitch 1/4" seam along the raw edges.

Layer 2nd Piece

3. Flip second piece right side up, and iron in place.

First Seam

4. Repeat until foundation fabric is fully covered. If your bottom piece is too big, place the next piece up a little rather than alligning raw edges. Once you've stitched the seam, trim off any excess (just be sure to not cut through your foundation fabric.)

Trim Excess

5. Your block should now look something like this:

Untrimmed Block

Trim all stitched pieces even with the foundation fabric.

6. Cut your block into 4 pieces.

Cut into Quarters

7. Stitch your mini-blocks to the front of a plain notecard. I use a touch of glue stick to hold the piece in place, and stitch 1/8" from the edge with a long stitch length.

Have fun!

Project Life - Week 10

March 6 - March 12

Beautiful day for a bike ride!

Megan loves to play games on her daddy's iPhone.

The start of a new project....

While taking pictures a kitty showed up. Not sure where she lives, but she sure is friendly!

12 yards of fabric washed, dried, and ready to be made into pillowcases.

Saw this while antiquing today... a salesman's sample pew. An extra $450 in the budget and it would have come home with me :o)

Tumbler Quilt

I started making this quilt just to make it... the charm packs were from a swap on Flickr, the tumbler template was new... just seemed like a good combination.

Tumbler Quilt

And then Megan saw the fabrics... she thought they were beautiful... she asked if I was making it for her.

Tumbler Quilt

And of course the answer was YES.

I'm Making Pillowcases Again

This year I am again giving of myself rather than giving up something during Lent.

(some of the pillowcases I made during the 2010 Holidays)

I've committed to making at least 6 pillowcases during Lent, and all will go to a local charity.

Want to join along? I have a tutorial here.

Project Life - Week 9

February 27 - March 5

I fell in love with these shoes, but couldn't decide between the black and brown... so I bought both pairs... problem solved.

Scraps from my Sugar Pop Tumbler quilt used for some patchwork notecards.

Found these when cleaning out a bookcase... forgot how much I love working these puzzles.

Wednesdays are Monkeynastics day.

We've been giving Megan spare change to save for her spending money on our trip to Disney... she loves putting it in her Disney box!

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

I bought these a year ago to wear to an event. I ended up not wearing them and they've sat in the closet for a year. Took them out this morning and found this...
