Project Life Week 8

February 20 - February 26

Megan and Bella enjoying the sprinkler.

A fun morning at the zoo would not be complete without a couple of rides on the carousel.

Moda Bella Solids and Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Solids - I should be able to find any color now.

Oh how I love the {limited time only} Whataburger Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich... yummy!!

Working on Megan's top for Go Texan Day.

Go Texan Day

Errands, SoccerTots, Build-A-Bear, mall playground...after a full day there's nothing like a cookie break with mom and grandma.

HMQG Charm Pack Challenge

Houston Modern Quilt Guild has started a Charm Pack Challenge. We each start with one Charm Pack of Central Park by Kate Spain for Moda, and can add up to 1/2 yard additional fabric (plus what's needed for backing and binding.)

Charm Pack Challenge

I've had a change of plans from what I originally thought I was going to make. But I'm excited about my new project... its something I've had on my to-do list for a while now.

Why do I wait until the last minute to start projects? And why do I think a great shortcut is going to save me time, but ends up taking me twice as long?

One of these days I'll learn... but until then I'll be up tonight finishing Megan's top for tomorrow's Go Texan Day. She'll wear it again at the Livestock show next week, so at least I'll be ahead of the game for that :o)

Happy Valentine's Day!

The start of a sweet little quilt...

Tumbler Quilt

Look what arrived in yesterday's mail...

Tumbler Ruler

...The Tumbler ruler from Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I couldn't wait to try it out!! After Megan was in bed and Chris locked away in his office for class, I pulled out a couple of charm packs and got to work.

Tumbler Quilt

The ruler fits perfectly on a charm square and makes quick work of cutting out the pieces. And it sews up just as fast.

Tumbler Quilt

Now to track down some grunge fabric for a border and backing.

Project Life Week 6

February 6 - February 12

Megan helping with the laundry... those socks at the bottom are so hard to reach!

It's here!!

Working on a project for my Make Mine Modern partner.

A freezer full of Girl Scout cookies. Is it bad that I can't wait for the day that Megan is in scouts and I HAVE TO buy lots and lots of cookies?

Nothing like a new chew bone.

My new iron arrived today. I love the little lifting feet :)

First day of SoccerTots. Megan had a great time!!!

I guess after all the hexagons I worked on during our road trip to Tulsa last summer I was a little burned out. They've sat on the corner of my sewing desk... just waiting for me to pick them up.

Traveling Hexagon Kit

Well this week I finally got back to them. I cut up some scraps from the last couple of quilt tops I made, refilled my traveling hexie container, and even basted a couple dozen while watching TV.

Hexagons to Date

Guess I should count all these... see just how close I am to basting all the hexies I need.

Project Life Week 5

January 30 - February 5

Megan with 1 of the new floor puzzles she got this weekend.

I love my new coffee mug!

The only coffee cozy I can find... should probably think about making a new one.

Finished piecing the Hope Valley quilt this week. Backing fabrics are on the way and then I can get started on quilting.

I love the little pile of scraps left after squaring up fabric.

My No-Snow Snow Day project.

A visit with Sam... oh how he's grown since we last saw him!

No Snow Snow-Day

We were expecting 1 - 3" of snow today. Turns out we didn't get any snow, but we did get lots of ice. The whole city of Houston pretty much shut down for the day (don't laugh... we can handle rain, floods, unreasonable heat and humidity, but we have no infrastructure to handle Winter weather.)

So inbetween Disney movies, coloring, and floor puzzles with the little one I was able to get a quilt pieced.

Wow - that makes 3 quilt tops made so far this year. Okay, now I really need to get down to quilting.

This week I finished my second quilt top of the year.

Plus Quilt

Now to get this (and a buch more) quilted.
