Week 13 Stash Report

So I took the cover off my sewing machine today and my first thought was "what did I make that used light blue thread?" Yes, it has been so long since I've had a chance to sew that I couldn't even remember the last thing I worked on.

Week 12 Stash Report - And Giveaway

I didn't get much sewing done this week... a few quilt-along blocks and my weekly pillowcase. But that's ok - my birthday was this week and I went out of town for a few days.

Guess what I got for my birthday... Fabric!! I know, you're surprised.

Look at all that wonderful eye candy!

The tall stack in the back is Tranquility by Sandy Gervais for Moda (gift from Hubby). In front of that is Za Za by Erin Michael for Moda (gift to myself) and Collection for a Cause supporting Alzheimer's Association from Moda
Then there's Simply Sweet by Quilt Soup (another gift to myself), 2 Charm Packs and 1 Jelly Roll of Boutique by Chez Moi for Moda (gift from my mom), a Charm Pack of Eden by Lila Tueller for Moda (also a gift from my mom) and Plum by Tula Pink for Moda (gift from my daugher)

And I have a great story about the Collection for a Cause fat quarter set... I ordered fabric from an online shop and was so excited when I saw the package on my front door Wednesday afternoon. But imagine my disappointment when I opened it up, and instead of my order, there was the Collection for a Cause. I called the customer service number in hopes that they would pay for the return postage (and make sure what I ordered was set aside for me since there weren't many left when I ordered.) And guess what the lady told me... not only would they send my order out right away, but I could KEEP what they sent!!! 40 Fat Quarters!! Wow - I couldn't believe it.

So, to honor their generosity I'm having a giveaway of my own. Isn't this just the cutest little bag from United Notions? Just leave me a comment between now and Thursday noon (central) and I'll send it along to one lucky winner. I'll post the winner Thursday evening.

Week 11 Stash Report

For the second time this year I have a BIG FAT 0 for fabric used this week!

But that doesn't mean I didn't get some sewing done... I just didn't start any new projects.

When I started this journal of fabric I decided to account for fabric when I first start working with it on a project. See my problem has never really been finishing projects once started, but rather buying fabric for projects that never get started.

So this week I worked some more on a quilt out of Breath of Avignon Jelly Roll and Charm Pack and catching up on Rachel's Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along (I would be caught up if I had finished week 3 blocks!)

And I got some really fun fabrics in this week! Some are for future outfits for Megan (including something for this year's Pasadena Strawberry Festival) but the most exciting was this fat quarter set
It is Za Za by Erin Michaels for Moda. When I was getting back into quilting a couple of years ago, this was one of the first fabric lines that I fell in love with. I do have a couple of charm packs and a little yardage (really little... 2 prints... maybe 1 1/2 yards total)... but when I saw this on ebay I knew I had to have it. And since it is March, let's just call it another birthday present to myself. Now I have to challenge myself to actually USE this fabric and not sit it on a shelf and just admire it.

Pillow Case #4

I just love this pillowcase!! How cute are these little critters? I'm having so much fun making these pillowcases. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up the 1 per week pace after Lent, but I know I'll be making more for sure!

The kit is in my shop for a special price this week.

Week 10 Stash Report

I love March! And not just becuase my birthday is in the middle of the month... really!!

I've been in love with the Simply Sweet fat quarters ever since I first saw them. I was doing very well resisting buying them, but then last week Hubby said he would buy them for me for my birthday. Yeah!!! Of course I waited too long, and the seller I wanted to buy from no longer had a couple of prints in stock. I picked something else for Hubby to get me for my birthday (Plume!!) but kept thinking about these lovely fabrics.

After seeing Heather, Rachel, and Camille post about these same fabrics, I decided I really, really wanted these after all, and maybe I should buy myself a birthday present. I found another online store with the full FQ sets. I put everything in my cart but before I completed the checkout process some of the fabrics sold out! Finally I tried the designer's website and there they were - the full set! So happy birthday to me!

Saturday, March 6, 2010

I've admired pictures of hexagons and hexagon quilts on Flickr for some time now, but never really thought of starting some myself. But then in January I had to make a last minute road trip that would put in riding in the car for 12+ hours over a couple of days. I knew I wouldn't read much during that time, so I wanted something else I could work on... HEXAGONS!

It really did turn out to be a good project to work on in the car. I could baste the pieces and still talk to the others in the car.

So now I'm about half way through a Jelly Roll, but I have no idea what I'm going to do with them. I really love this, but all those extra white hexagons - I don't think I'd ever finish the quilt! I also really like this and this and this.

So for now I continue making hexagons and hope inspiration strikes me soon.
