Late last Sunday I got a wild hair and thought I'd look into the Creative Arts contest at the Ft. Bend County Fair. I knew the fair was starting Friday, so I figured I'd be too late for this year, but at least I'd have an idea of timing for next year. Well to my surprise they hadn't started taking entries yet... entries were scheduled for all day Wednesday and Thursday morning.
I told Chris that I was thinking about entering and he immediately said I should enter the dog outfit I made Megan this summer. Ok - entry #1 taken care of.
And then I thought about the crayon apron I made a couple of weeks ago. Everyone I've shown the apron to (or pictures of it) has loved it. Except that would mean I'd have to make one... before Wednesday. No problem! I had more of the same fabrics, and Chris would be studying Monday and Tuesday night...
I got everything made, pressed, and dropped off Wednesday evening. And Thursday afternoon the call came... I won an Outstanding Rosette for the crayon apron. And guess what?!? When we got to the fair Saturday, I realized that the crayon apron also won a first place ribbon, and the dog outfit won a first place ribbon. Not bad for my first time! I'm already excited about next year's fair. Maybe I'll even give the Texas State Fair a try...
