Catching Up

I seem to be spending more time reading other blogs than keeping mine updated lately. So here's a quick update from the last couple of weeks:

Pay It Forward Giveaway

Crystal (Sonnet of the Moon) sent me these super-cute Tea Towels as part of her Pay It Forward Giveaway. They look so cute in my kitchen! And the best part... I was just thinking about making some new placemats and napkins for the kitchen table in pinks - and these will go perfectly!!

Outfits for Megan
The first one is my favorite Butterick 5439 and the Easy Fit Pants from YouCanMakeThis.com. She'll probably be able to wear this one in the fall (its too big and too warm to wear right now.)

The second one is my first try with New Look 6906. And it looks so cute on Megan! Guess you'll have to take my word for it - she wouldn't stay still long enough for me to get a good picture of her in it. And the fabric - $2 a yard on clearance at Hobby Lobby!

Father's Day
We spent a little time this morning feeding the ducks at the neighborhood duck pond. Megan had such a great time with the ducks! There were 2 all-white ducks that just loved her. They would get so close I worried they would try to take the bread out of her hands.

Destruction!!!

We've had a "destructive" couple of days!!

Thursday evening, after a crazy day at work, all I wanted to do was curl up on the sofa and watch some TV. So I grabed my Trip Around the World quilt ... and look what I found ...

THE DOG CHEWED MY QUILT!!
I guess she did it during the night. The only reason I can think of for her "acting out" is that Wednesday night we threw out the ottoman she likes to sleep on. We didn't want to get rid of the ottoman, but it really needed to go! Bella had ripped up all the fabric and we were finding stuffing all over the house. What, oh what, am I going to do with her? Lucky I love her so much!

So I'm thinking of taking off the binding, ripping out the longarm stitching (lucky its not heavily stitched), repairing the hole in the middle and re-quilting it myself on Mom's longarm machine. When I pulled this quilt out for the Spring Quilt Festival I kept thinking of all the things I'd do differently if I was making this quilt today, rather than 15 years ago. Guess this is my chance!

But the destruction didn't end there! Friday morning Chris was headed to a doctor appointment and he got hit. No one was hurt, and the Camry was driveable for the ride home, but this was really not what we needed! So now we'll spend part of this weekend dealing with insurance companies, renting a car, and getting Megan a new car seat. We've been talking about buying a new car (to replace the truck, not the Camry) so maybe we can rent one of the cars we've been thinking about - kind of like an extended test drive (there has to be a silver lining there somewhere - right?)

And The Winner Is...

Sorry this posting is so late, but its been one of those days! It started at 4:30 this morning and now at 9:30 I'm finally sitting down for the first time! Ok - enough whinning from me... now on to the winner...

And the winner is.... tammiemarie (lucky lady - check out her blog for more details!)

Want to see what she won? Well here it is...

Its a little thing to wear around your neck as you sew - it has pockets for gadgets, a retractable thing for scissors and a little place to put pins. From the beginning I thought this was what I wanted to make for the giveaway, but since I had never made one before I didn't want to put it in writting, just in case it didn't come out as I hoped ;-) But I love it, and can't wait to make one for myself. Hope you enjoy it tammimarie!

Thanks to everyone that participated and posted!! I'm still checking out the great links and etsy sellers everyone shared.
