We don't really celebrate Mardi Gras... never been to the celebrations in New Orleans or Galveston, we don't buy King Cakes, don't give anything up for lent... but that doesn't mean that Megan doesn't need an outfit for the day!

I've had this pattern for over a year, and finally decided to try it out. Of course I bought the fabric a couple of weeks ago, but didn't cut the fabric out until Wednesday. And then I realized that I didn't have the right color of thread. So Thursday evening I made a "quick" trip to Wal-Mart. Boy, oh boy was that the wrong choice - the store was FILLED with kids buying Valentine's goodies. I probably waited 20 minutes in the check-out line. Needless to say, by the time I got home I was in no mood to sew. So last night I "whipped" up this top...
I really like the pattern - I'll probably work this one into my rotation of standard patterns.
Up next for Megan - Texas Independence Day top, Rodeo top, St. Patrick's Day top, and possibly Mardi Gras top (don't have the fabric for this one yet - but I've seen some at Hancock's and Hobby Lobby.)

Yesterday was Pancakes & Pajamas Children's Festival presented by Fort Bend Junior Service League and Richmond Bone & Joint Clinic. It was a long and crazy day, but everyone seemed to have a great time! Since I was working all day my mom brought Megan to the festival (along with my sister, her son, and a friend of my sister). I made Megan a swing top to wear for the day. Of course in all the craziness I didn't actaully get a picture of Megan wearing the top. But I think I'll have Megan wear the top for school pictures this week, so I'll snap a picture of her in it then!
