Catch Up

As promissed, here's a little catch up post of some items I've completed recently...

I showed this outfit earlier, but here's a shot of Megan in the outfit she wore to the Dog Show:

I found a 1/2 yard of this fabric stashed away and was going to use it for more burp cloths, but thought I'd see if there was enough for a top. And there was!

This top was made for a trip to the Downtown Aquarium:

I love finding remnants at Hobby Lobby! This one was almost a full yard and was just perfect for trying out a new pattern.

Felt Letters - I plan to make a travel felt board that Megan can take in the car.

Disappearing 9-Patch - finally finished the top! Now to find time to quilt it.

And finally... here's a peek at the 60+ yards of fabric that came into the house during July. Now to be completly fair, a few pieces were probably bought in June and a couple are from August. I finally got around to folding everything and thought I'd snap a quick picture when done. Wow - the stack looks like it could topple over!

I have plans for some of the fabrics... the 4 Jelly Rolls will be quilts; the FQ stack along with 2 1-yard pieces from the same line (Heather Peterson) will be a quilt of some sorts; the Patty Young (green) will probably be a bag for me and an outfit for Megan; the Amy Butler Lotus and Full Moon Dot (along with a couple of other pieces) will be an outfit for Megan; the Jennifer Paganelli (green and white) may be a top for me; and some of the Heather Bailey will be a bag for me and some an outfit for Megan.

Any ideas for the rest of the fabrics?

Quilt-A-Long Week 7

Week 7 - Binding
August 16 - August 22

This is it - the last week of our Disappearing 9-Patch Quilt-A-Long. For anyone that's still on schedule, doesn't it feel good to have this little gem almost done! I'm sad to say that my little quilt is no further along than it was 2 weeks ago. But I will be working on it tomorrow night, and I should be able to finish the top - Yeah!!

And now for this week's topic... binding.
Since I don't have pictures of my own quilt to show, once again I'll give you some links to other bloggers that have done a GREAT job of explaning the binding process... Enjoy!

It's been pointed out to me that there are items in my Completed Projects list that I haven't shown pictures of. I'll take care of that next week (after finishing the quilt top)... a little recap of some summer projects.

This is a little embarrassing...

I went a little overboard with fabric shopping during July. It seems everywhere I turn, there's a little pile of new fabrics still waiting to be folded and put away... on the dresser, in my Quilter's Emporium reusable shopping bag, stashed in the living room entertainment center, on my sewing desk...

So I sat down and actually counted all the yardage that came in the door. I couldn't believe it when I counted up 46 yards of fabric. But then I remembered another little stash, and the final talley came to....
60 yards

So how did I get to 60 yards in one month? Well...

* 8 yards from Anka's Treasures (2 1-yard pieces and a set of 24 FQs)
* 14 yards from the big Quilts by the Bay sale last week (everything 1/2 price!!)
* 2 yards of MM Ironworks that had been backordered for MONTHS
* 14 yards from a Co-op (all purchased in April & May)
* 3 yards of Jennifer Paganelli fabric
* 1 yard of a cute cat & dog print I bought in Port Aransas
* 3 yards basic dot fabric from JoAnn (I love having this on hand)
* 4 yards of Moda Nest ($3.99 a yard - how can I pass that up! And I'll use it as backing for the Nest quilt I have planned with a Layered Cake I bought earlier this year.)
* 10+ yards worth of fabric in 4 Jelly Rolls
* 2 1-yard pieces of Beach fabric
* And some smaller pieces... a couple of FQs, some 1/4 & 1/2 yard cuts for a couple of twirl skirts

And of all that, the only thing I've used so far are the 2 1-yard pieces of Beach fabrics.

Looks like I need to get some sewing done.

Quilt-A-Long Week 5 & 6

Week 5 & 6 - Quilt (and catch-up)
August 2 - August 15

For the next two weeks our schedule has us quilting our Disappearing 9-Patch tops. I think this is where I'm going to fall behind. Despite being off work last week, I didn't get much sewing done and my quilt top is not complete. And with the crazieness that will be going on over the next couple of weeks I don't hold out high hopes that I'll get it completed and quilted in time to get back on track. Oh well, I still haven't even decided if I want to try to quilt this myself on my DSM or use my mom's Long-Arm Machine.

If you are all caught up and will be quilting over the next couple of weeks, here are some blogs that may be worth reading...
